"It’s simple. You are an engineer. You have something you must defend. Hence the name, “Defense Engineer.” There are people, monsters, and mech pilots who will try to break your defenses. You will be paid for stopping them. Any questions?

Resources?

You have your god-given Brawn, Brain, and ability to Build. You have a workshop full of tools, some broken electronic appliances, and an unnecessarily restrictive budget.

The Plan?

Jerry Rig together as many traps, tools, and weapons as you can before you fall under attack!

Restrictions?

Nope! Come up with anything you want. You’re an engineer! You can make it work or you’ll die trying! Words like “impractical” or “impossible” mean nothing to you! Just know, that in order to get your desired effect with your available resources, you’ll have to compromise to get there. And the more you compromise, the more things could go wrong. The more things go wrong, the more backup plans you’ll need.

Why not just buy the traps/tools/weapons?

You tell me. You’re the engineer who thinks his half-assed, rubber band-powered turret would stop a zombie from stealing your stuff! Also you have $20. That might be the real reason."

Defense engineers is an RPG where you play as an engineer who builds things to defend other things. Build whatever you want out of whatever you have on hand, and I do mean anything. You can make it work, no matter what! from something as simple as a wooden plank covered in nails to something as fantastic as a freeze ray made out of old refrigerator parts, your imagination is the limit! Oh, and also your available supplies, those are also limiting. But it's okay, you can make it work with a few compromises! Of course, those compromises will impact its performance, but hey, it'll still do its job and keep the raiders out of your stuff!

Features:

  • a rules-light system that lets you get a game up and running in a matter of minutes, whether your'e the Game Master or the player!
  • an easy-to-understand dice check mechanic involving 1-3 dice with at least a 50/50 chance of success on each roll
  • a lot of sarcasm

A little bit of Tower Defense, a lot of open-ended crafting, and even more good-natured fun at the expense of people who say they can build or fix it themselves... no matter what it is. Enjoy!
