Web of Lies RPG
A downloadable TTRPG
The setting, a haunted mansion. The guests, trapped. The host, murdered. It could be a ghost, but you, a Master Detective, know that the facts, as they're presented, don’t quite add up. Can you find the truth and expose the real killer?
The Web of Lies system is made to play games in the style of stories like Agatha Christie novels (ex; Murder on the Orient Express), The Ace Attorney games, or the Case Closed manga/anime series. Players will have to search for clues and conduct interviews, making note of everything they find. When they have enough evidence to expose a lie, they attempt to do so until enough facts of the case have been established to draw a conclusion and catch the bad guy. There’s one small, but important twist: The conclusion isn’t established in advance. All clues are laid out in advance, but no facts of the case are established. All information that will be necessary to Solve the Case comes from how the players draw conclusions.
Features:
- All you should need to build a case and start a game.
- A character creation system that allows players to quickly step into the shoes of their favorite kinds of characters from various mystery stories, with tropes derived from stories ranging from Sherlock Holmes to Scooby Doo.
- A gameplay system built on a d4-based dice pool and a detective's skills.
Disclaimer: There is very little built-in structure, and this has not yet been playtested. All chaos that could ensue is completely intentional.
